All upcoming PS5 games: 2023, 2024, and beyond

The PlayStation 5 has been out for some time now, and its reception has been mostly positive. It includes lots of quality-of-life improvements over its predecessor, the PlayStation 4, such as faster load times, a solid-state drive (SSD) instead of a regular hard disk drive (HDD), and an improved controller in the form of the new DualSense. However, a console is only as good as the games available on it, and thankfully, the PS5 has you covered on that front as well.

While the machine already has a worthy library of great PS5 games, there are even more to look forward to, with some releasing as soon as this month, while others are still years away. In the video game world, it’s not uncommon to be aware of games that are still several years out from release. It’s also normal for a new game to be revealed and launched within just a couple of months. In this comprehensive list, we’ll go through the major PS5 releases scheduled for 2023 and speculate on future games.

These are the best upcoming PS5 games to look forward to.

One of the greatest surprises during the 2021 PlayStation Showcase was the reveal of Marvel’s Wolverine, a project in development by Insomniac Games. That’s right, the studio is juggling Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and this game simultaneously, which just goes to show how impressive the team is. This one is even earlier in development than Spider-Man 2 and doesn’t have a release window just yet. It’s unclear if it will tie to the Spider-Man games or if it will be its own separate story — though we’re inclined to believe they’ll be connected. The reveal trailer doesn’t give us a glimpse of gameplay, but we can probably expect it to be a third-person action-adventure with a large open world to explore. Dragon’s Dogma II will run on the RE Engine, which was used for many recent Capcom games, including Resident Evil Village. While it’s still very early in development, we do know a new Mass Effect game is coming from BioWare. Following its official reveal at The Game Awards 2020, there is a slew of questions fans have about the project — most importantly, how it will tie to the original trilogy. In the trailer, we got to see Liara, one of the main characters from the original trilogy, though it’s unclear when in the timeline this new game will take place and what this character’s role will be. Kicking off the 2021 PlayStation Showcase was the announcement of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake. It’s still very early in development and will likely be a while before it’s ready to launch. The original Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic launched for Xbox in 2003 and was developed by BioWare, the team behind Mass Effect and Dragon Age. The remake is being handled by Aspyr, the studio that developed remasters of Star Wars: Episode I — Racer, Star Wars: Jedi Knight — Jedi Academy, and Star Wars: Republic Commando. Interestingly, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake will be a PS5 timed console exclusive, though it’s unclear for how long. In 2022, it was reportedly delayed indefinitely, so we likely won’t get to play this game any time soon.
